A camera bag might be an overlooked item initially when you start to vlog but after you lug around your gear for a while to different places you will be thinking it’s a good idea to get a camera bag or backpack. The convenience of a bag is invaluable for portability and security reasons while your out vlogging. I typically tend to carry a DSLR with an extra lens, 2 extra camera batteries, external microphone, Joby Focus tripod and an assortment of other items such as SD cards and extra 9-volt batteries for my microphone. So having a bag to carry all of that and usually a little bit more is very nice.
I personally use a Lowepro Photo Hatchback 16L AW for several years now. This is a very reasonably priced bag that has served me well. I have taken this bag half way across the United States and through half of Europe and still have yet to damage it in any real way. I can walk all day with this loaded down on my back and not feel overly fatigued because it’s a good size, not too big, not too small. For comparison, I am 6’1 ft. and a larger guy.
This bag is also excellent in the sense that it has two large pockets on the side for carrying a water bottle. Believe me when your out and about walking around or sightseeing this feature is a tremendous help because you are not going to want to carry a water bottle in your hand if you’re trying to vlog and operate a camera. You can easily fit any round 1-litre sized bottle on both sides of the back pack.
I recently purchased the newer model that is nearly identical for my wife. The newer model is the Lowepro Photo Hatchback BP 150 AW II. The price is currently a little bit higher vs. the other one, after comparing them a bit they appear to be identical to me except the color scheme. This back pack comes in the color black.
There are several other camera gear bags on the market and you just have to try them to find the best one for you!
